COPPER ONX MAGAZINE SEASON III a short film and literary magazine
The goal of [Copper ] is to redefine the five stages of grief, re-imagining how Black womxn throughout America endure collective trauma. Enduring grief is framed not as a process of victimization but a method of transcending the current plane. A cycle of deconstructing and reconstructing that occurs more than once; how [Copper] interprets these five stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. We collaborated with Bay Area photographers, cinematographers, fashion designers, make up artists, and musicians of color.
With nothing but a vision and an appetite for collaboration, I served as Art Director for this 8 month long project. The entire duration of this project only cost us $100 out of pocket. I raised the rest via grants and events to promote the film. As a result of strategic partnerships, the film was awarded $25,000.00 investment after its completion. I wore many hats as an art director. From casting, location scouting, styling, grant writer, financier, fashion designer, set designer, copy writer, event and marketing guru. I oversaw all pre-production, production and post-production to ensure all conceptual development was cohesive and high quality.
